How It's Made: Mexican Ceramics
Half Past Seven’s ceramics collection is handcrafted by a 30 year old family business in Guanajuato, Mexico that is dedicated to creating jobs for the community and keeping this heritage craft alive. Each piece is part of a high-temperature firing process, meaning each piece fires in a 1200-degree oven for 10 hours and then dries (oftentimes on the streets of the town) for 15 days. This ensures that our stoneware ceramics are non-porous and highly durable. The clay is sourced from the Veracruz and Hidalgo regions of Mexico (a brown clay and a red clay, respectively). Products are certified cadmium-free and lead-free, and dishwasher safe. Each piece is crafted by hand, meaning that no two are exactly the same. Your purchase helps to support the preservation of heritage crafts. |
