In each Set Up, we’ll bring you inspiration for upcoming gatherings. Submit your requests via Instagram or by replying to our Newsletter. In your request, please include the occasion, location and your must haves and we’ll get it “set up.”
We love Memorial Day! And the official start to summer is the perfect excuse to entertain. We’re not sure if this deck is by a lake, in the mountains, by the ocean or just off the back of your house, but regardless, we love this and are already hearing “Born in the USA” in the background. Read on for our thoughts and ‘set up.’
To keep this party really family friendly, we’re going with easy food. We pulled out Martha Stewart’s “Entertaining: A Year of Celebrations” book (aka one of our more inspirational entertaining books) and referenced her July 4th Barbeque. Even though the months are different, the themes translate and her menu is stellar. We’re “stealing” her barbeque chicken wings, baby-back ribs and twice-baked potato recipe. We would pair this with this pasta salad. If you are feeling ambitious, we would add this dip as appetizers (served on our Goldi Tray). For dessert, we strongly encourage you to make this patriotic cake.
The beauty of this menu is that most of this can be fully-prepared (or at least significantly prepped) ahead of time AND it’s very kid-friendly. Our new ceramics lines would all work with this theme, but our Inkwell collection especially appropriate with the vanilla bean white and indigo splatter.
For the drinks, we would recommend a self-serve bar with gin & tonics, this mojito recipe and then any other beers, seltzers and wine of your choosing. For the kids, we would serve lemonade (or juice boxes if that makes your life easier).
Set the table with our new Inkwell line. The Goldi tray is perfect for passing appetizers or serving the ribs, wings, and potatoes. Our Inkwell plates are great for outdoor dining and feel Americana. If you are in a warmer climate, we love this blue number. If you are farther north, we would pair this cute top with white jeans (and add this light-weight sweater once the sun goes down). Don’t forget the tunes - we’d be rocking out to this patriotic playlist.
